Stance on AI
I do not use AI to support any elements of my work. I believe AI is a powerful tool, but it is not a tool that has a place in the arts.
I do not run any checks to determine if clients’ manuscripts have AI content, but I would like to state that if you used AI to help write your manuscript, it is likely that we have different values regarding creative works and will not make a great editor-author match.
I believe that the human touch is necessary in order to create a piece of art that will have the emotional impact authors strive for when they put their work into the world.
Studies have shown that online shoppers are more likely to choose a product with a human-written description over one described by AI generation. If this is true for consumers comparing two different products while online shopping, I feel confident that the impact will be even greater when they are selecting a piece of literature to open their hearts and minds to.
Each piece of literature is a labor of love, and a tool that was created for data compilation and analysis cannot replicate the creative spirit of a human being, and I would not wish to be an editor in a world where stories are generated rather than written. Please reach out if you have any questions regarding my statement. I am happy to discuss.
