Fiction Services
Developmental Edit
A developmental edit provides structural suggestions revolving around plot, character development, flow, or pacing. It is generally the first level of editing for a new manuscript. This level does not include editing of individual sentences as the focus is on your outline and story elements rather than making each sentence the strongest it could be.
Line and Copyedit
A copyedit is for you if you are already confident in the content of your narrative, but want help with sentence structure. Copyedits can be light, medium, or heavy depending on your needs. A light copy edit primarily focuses on grammar, while a heavy copyedit would include line editing. This means I will also make suggestions to tighten the prose or increase impact.
Proofread
Proofreading is the final read through before a manuscript goes to the printer. I will do a single pass through to address spelling and grammatical or formatting errors. I will not alter any prose choices or make any substantive edits. I recommend this service for those whose manuscript has already passed through the eyes of several readers and simply needs a final professional check.
